Paleo Flatbreads Recipe ( 3 ingredients only and showing NON paleo option as well)
Hello everyone!! and welcome to another ” Foodie Friday” post 🙂
I hope you are all ready for the weekend, I know I am and even though I am done with my 4 weeks of full paleo ( insert my happy face here because I will be able to have my WEEKLY treat meal again) I wanted to include this recipe on my Blog this week!
I found this on Pinterest and I’ve been meaning to try some Paleo alternative to bread for a while so when I saw how easy this recipe was I said to myself ” Leslie you gotta give this a try”, with 3 ingredients only how hard could this be? what could go wrong??
This was my first time using coconut flour and I am gonna admit, I was a bit “nervous” about how they were gonna taste.
There are 2 non paleo foods that I LOVE and these are: bread and cheese so If I can find some paleo alternative for at least one of those I will be a happy camper!
Without further due let’s get into the recipe and remember three ingredients is all you need ( without counting salt and spices if you want to add any, I did cause I love giving them some extra flavor)
* Egg whites ( I used 6, the original recipe had 12 and it said it was good for 4 people, since this was my first time trying it I thought making just half the portion would be ok for now)
* Coconut flour ( 2 tablespoons for 2 flatbreads or 1/4 cup if you want to make 4)
* Baking powder ( 1 teaspoon for 2 flatbreads or 2 teaspoons for 4)
*Salt ( 1/2 teaspoon for 2, 1 teaspoon for 4)
*Spices ( I added some sweet basil rub from Pampered Chef which I love but you can add anything you like really ; basil, garlic powder, etc)
Now you guys know I love being honest on my Blog, what is the point of lying to you?, it makes no point whatsoever so I am gonna give you my opinion when it comes to these flatbreads.
I don’t think I measured the flour correctly when I was making them so they ended up being a bit too thick in my opinion and when I put the guacamole on, the flavor wasn’t THAT great and that is how I thought of a way to ” fix them” so I added the tomato sauce, ham and cheese and THEN they ended up being pretty tasty!
Maybe since it was my first time trying coconut flour I simply didn’t like the taste, I don’t know..
But If I have to give my honest opinion and tell you which version was my favorite, I definitely chose the non paleo one ( With ham, cheese,etc, it s not paleo because it has cheese)
